Greonterp: Flag: diagonal from topfly to hoistbottom of silver and blue; in silver a red waterlilyleaf placed diagonal right.
CoA: per bend sinister of silver and blue; in silver a red waterlilyleaf in bend.
Greonterp was in Wonseradeel before it was incorporated in Wymbritseradeel. Together with the other 26 villages in that municipality it received in 1955 a villageflag; the flag was similar to the southern villages of Wonseradeel, see Tsjerkwerd, Dedgum, Allingawier, Exmorra, Hieslum, Parrega, and Ferwoude. The flag-project is described on the Wûnseradiel page.
Since 1 Jan 1984 Greonterp is part of Wymbritseradiel municipality. The old name was "Grevingeterp" (digging mound). Population (1958) 215; (2000) c. 100. The village is south of the town of Bolsward, and was for school- and church-going purposes totally dependent of the Roman Catholic village of Blauhûs. Greonterp's pride is its bell-cage, which after a short occupation by the Blauhûster Dakkapel has been regained by the villagers' collecting abilities.
The Dutch author Simon van het Reeve wrote this poem about Greonterp:

BOETPSALM
Vol alcohol, zwaarmoedigheid,
En eerbied voor de Maagd,
Woon ik in Friesland.
Niet mijn, Uw wil geschiede.

(Penitential psalm
Full of alcohol, melancholy,
and veneration of the Virgin,
I live in Fryslân,
Not my, Your will be done)
<This author made more enemies in Fryslân, than all Spaniards, Geldersen, and Hollanders combined :-)>
Poem is at this website.
Greonterp is in the vicinity of three tiny lakes: de Vliet, het Rietmeer en het Sipkemeer, only yachtable by canoe and windsurfing planks.
