The community of Novigrad (named often Noigrad Zadarski or
Novigrad Dalmatinski to differenciate fro the other two places in
Croatian with the same name: Novigrad
Istarski (Cittanova) and Novigrad
Podravski) is situated about 30 km east of Zadar in a deep bay called Novigradsko
more (Novigrad sea). The city tracks its history back to
Roman times. The stone carved coats of arms are preserved, but
the colours were (apparently) first introduced in the book
"Grbovi Jugoslavije" (Laszowski, 1934), since when
these colours are said to be traditional. The Coat of Arms is in
use in Novigrad, but it is not known if the decision of its
adoption for the Coat of Arms of the community was adopted and
weather its use was approved by the Ministry. The flag is not
reported (yet!).
