Hof van Twente municipality

Hof van Twente is the result of a merger of the former municipalities of Ambt Delden, Diepenheim, Goor, Markelo and Stad Delden on 1 Jan 2001. The municipality consists of Bentelo, Delden (seat), Diepenheim, Goor, Hengevelde en Markelo, totalling 35.000 inhabitants. Hof van Twente does not have its own municipal flag and CoA. Designs are being prepared now. CoA and flag will ultimately be decided upon by the High Council of Nobility.

Description: Azure two erased linden-trees or and in an enlarged inescutcheon gules a cross argent with in the first and fourth quarter a medlar-flower argent barbed vert, and in the second and third quarter a bear's paw or; the shield is surmontée of a crown or of five leaves.
The CoA is derived from the municipal arms of the five former municipalities. The arms of Goor (red with a white cross with 4 medlar-flowers) are most prominent, as it was the most populous; its central place reflects its geographical position in the new municipality. The bear's paws are from Diepenheim. The municipal arms of Ambt Delden, Markelo and Stad Delden show all one or more trees, while the arms of Markelo shows also an inescutcheon. The golden crown is derived from the arms of Stad Delden, Goor and Diepenheim.
