Municipalities in Salzburg (Austria)

Gemeinden in Salzburg

As there is no legal provision for municipal flags, many of the municipalities just use the colours of the Land Salzburg (red-white) with the municipal coat-of-arms (information from the Salzburg state archives). See Neukirchen am Grossvenediger and my recent observations in Leogang. Others seem to use two or three colours from their coat-of-arms, but without any official adoption or involvement of the state archives.

The research of the Salzburg municipal flags turns out to be a tedious and very slow task. The current status:
Out of 119 municipalities I have

sent infos and gifs, based on flag photos, of 29 (24%);
got preliminary info, i.e. b/w photos suggesting a similar flag pattern as most municipal flags in Salzburg (red-white with municipal arms), of another 4 (3%);
no flag info at all, for 86 (72%).

Of the known flags, only four do not follow the pattern "red-white (i.e. state colours) with municipal arms", namely Bischofshofen, Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Salzburg, Zell am See.
