This
website names this village as Podhorany (Maldur), in Kezmarok district,
Slovakia, close to the Polish border. The flag and CoA on that page are
based on the patron saint, St Martin of Tours (316-397).

I was wondering how one of the most famous French saints landed on a
Slovakian coat of arms. Petit Larousse revealed my ignorance: St. Martin
was born in Sabaria, Pannonia.
There are several places called Saint-Martin in France, and Martin
is the most common family name in France.
Saint Martin of Tours is famous for his cloak, which he divided with
a beggar. The cloak was called a "cape" and was considered by the Franks
as a holy relic, kept in a "chapel". The cloak is considered by Whitney
Smith as the first French standard, since it was kept in a portable oratory
and carried into battle by the Frank Kings.

In my historical atlas (Westermann) it is Savaria, which according to
the Oxford Classical Dictionary was the capital of Pannonia Prima. Savaria
is now Szombathely in Hungary, also known by
its German name Steinamanger.
