Official text (in Russian) of the Law of the Region of Tambov number 292-Z «About Flag of the Region of Tambov», adopted 2005, February 22. Official description:
The flag of the Region of Tambov represents the rectangular cloth consisting of two equal vertical strips of red and blue color, and the bilaterial image of the coat of arms of the Region of Tambov in the full version with a crown and the Lenin’s cordon.
The attitude of width of a flag to length - two three.
The dimensional width of a board of the coat of arms on a flag makes 1/6 lengths of a flag.
The law according to historical traditions establishes the following official interpretation of symbolics of a flag:
- Red color is a symbol of courage, resistance, bravery of inhabitants of Region of Tambov, reflects their magnanimity, aspiration to unity and solidarity, continuity of generations, reminds of color of historical banners of Russia, emblems of Tambov’s regiments and flags of the Soviet period;
- blue color of a flag means greatness, natural beauty and cleanliness of the Region of Tambov, fidelity to his traditions, faultlessness and well-being.
