The flag has been adopted by the parliament of the Vologda region on
November 26, 1997 under law number 471. The flag is registered in the
register of state under number 226. It is the only flags officially recorded
in our area.
Basile Vorobiov, 12 Jan 1999
The city arms differs from the
oblast arms by the fact that it doesn’t bear the crown

to constituent republics, and
used ephemeral unofficial flags. One of the main republics was Vologda; flag
was vertical yellow - red - white.
