Reduzum village

Official name: Reduzum (Dutch: Roordahuizum), a village in Boarnsterhim municipality, Fryslân; it used to be in the former municipality of Idaarderadeel. The Frisian names vary: also Roardahuzum, Readhuzum. The village is the only place which was in the Middle Ages in the former Middelzee.
Nickname: "hoannekneppelers" - rooster beaters (same procedure as with "kattekneppelers" see Jirnsum) - however it may also be the result of a village feud with Eagum, where the rooster was so important.
Roardhuzen: CoA: in blue a yellowe cornsheaf; in chief two golden stars; in between a turned silver crescent.
The arms is a combination of CoAs of important families, namely Bootsma (the stars and the crescent), and Aytsma (the sheaf).
Flag: two vertical stripes of blue and yellow, proportioned 2:1; in the blue stripe a yellow cornsheaf.
