Sderot is situated in the NW Negev desert, 72 km from Tel-Aviv, 20 from Ashqelon and 40 from Be'er Sheva. Est. 1955 and has 35,000 inh. Its name comes from the Bible (Kings A:6:9) and means planks (rows) of cedars.

Sderot is mentioned in the Bible at the period of King Solomon. The general outline of the emblem expresses the spirit of the place at present and future.The unoffical flag is the emblem on a monochrome background. There is no specific colour but the favoured colour is light blue/azure. Blue - the sky is blue most of the time.
Gold - the heart of the town citizens is warm and loving like the warm and pleasant sun rays.
Red - roofs - construction and development aimed at improving the quality of life in town.
Furrows - the beauty of nature. The town is immersed in greenery and avenues of trees.
