Overview

Taliándörögd is a village in Veszprém county, Hungary near to the Lake Balaton. Neighbouring settlements are: Szoc, Sáska, Hegyesd, Monostorapáti, Kapolcs, Vigántpetend, Pula, Öcs and Halimba villages. The settlement has got 711 inhabitants (Hungarians; 2001 census). The first mention of the village is from 1248. In 1548 it was devastated by Turks and resettled in 1718. The village was the noble village - the origin of the CoA of the village is the CoA of the Vizeki Tallián Family. In blue field on the green plain there is a Hungarian warrior in red trousers and silver armour. In his right hand there is a flower of the village (in Hungarian: tavaszi hérics) The village was part of Zala county till 1950. The flag is gold-green. Ratio: 1:2. With swallowtail.
Latin name of the flower is Adonis vernalis L. (<www.terra.hu/haznov/htm/Adonis.vernalis.html>). In English: False Hellebore or Spring Adonis or Yellow Adonis or Yellow Pheasant's Eye or Ox-eye (<www.cites.org/eng/cop/11/prop/61.pdf>).
