Overview

Suhopolje is a community in the Virovitia and Podravina County, almost 9000 inhabitants, close to 3000 in the town of the same name. It isituated some 10 km southeast of Virovitica, on the main road towards Slatina.   The coat of arms is shown on the County web site: azure on a mount vert a wall with gates topped with a roofed tower all or.   The charges probably (but I am not sure) represent the castle of the Jankovic family who obtained it in late 18th centruy. Aroudn that time the name of the place was Terezovac, latter returned to the original name Suhopolje.   The style of the coat of arms suggest that it is adopted around 2000 and that there is probably there is a flag to go with it we shall have to find out about at a latter time.

The web site of the community <www.suhopolje.hr> adds the info on flag and confirms my assumptions on what the coat of arms represents. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms in the middle. The charge is the coat of arms is the pavillion in the ressidence of Count Jankovic that is the core of the modern town. The flag image at the web site is ambigous regarding the shade of yellow, suggesting pale yellow. However the flag in the county assembly is clearly the usual shade of yellow (see also this photos at <www.viroviticko-podravska-zupanija.hr/studeni04n.htm> (around the middle of the page) and <www.viroviticko-podravska-zupanija.hr/listopad03n.htm> (around the middle of the page) for flags of other communities/cities in the County, though I have not yet identified each and every of them).
