Overview

Cadavica (C<ad|avica) is a community in the Virovitica and Podravina County some 30 km southeast of Virovitica. Population around 3,000, some 800 in the village of the town name.   The coat of arms is shown on the County web site at <www.viroviticko-podravska-zupanija.hr> that  also explains that Cadavica was in 1852 granted the marketplace rights. The coat of arms may have been granted at the same time. Certainly it look similar in style like many coat of arms of the agriculturally progressive settlements granted in the Hungarian part of the Habsburg Monarchy in the time. The modern artistic layout must have been adopted around 2000 together with a flag, but I do not know it yet.   The coat of arms of Cadavica is vert a rake in pale, a pichfork and a scythe in saltire all argent and in base a ploughshare or.

The flag hoisted in the County Asembly Hall alowes us to fill the info. It is red with the coat of arms bordered yellow in the middle.
As explained before, an other somewhat similar Coat of Arms was used initially in 1990's, but was replaced recently. That flag was also hoisted in the County Asembly Hall simultaneously when I visited it a few weeks ago, probably due to someone forgetting to remove it.

Coat of Arms
by Željko Heimer, 17 April 2005

The coat of arms is divided per fess with a bar argent chief azure a mullet argent and base vert a ploughshare or.   I guess that this coat of arms may have had a history reaching late 19th century (since the style is of the coat of arms granted to villages in the period in Croatia and Hungary), but it is not among such examples included in the legendary Coffy Haague album issued in 1930's [lsv39]
The flag was light blue with the coat of arms in the middle.
