Overview

Legrad is a small town about twenty kilometers due north of Koprivnica with some 2600 inhabitants. It is situated at the confluence of Mura into Drava. It is said that the river flow removed the whole city from Medimurje (then in Hungary) into Podravina (Croatia) without moving single stone - the river switched the flow from south of the town to north of it. I really don't know how exact the story is and when it happened, I heard it long ago from my grandfather, who was born in Legrad.
The CoA and the flag are described in the statutes of 2001 issued in the official gazette (avilable on <www.glasila.hr>):  Statut Opcine Legrad, 1. listopada 2001. Službeni glasnik Koprivnicko-križevacke županije, br. 11/01, god. IX, Koprivnica, 5. listopada 2001. They must have been adopted somewhat earlier, say about 1997.
The coat of arms of Legrad is the historical coat of arms (claims the Stautes): Azure a fess argent, in base a boat proper and in chief a mullet or and a crescent of the second. The flag is blue with yellow bordered coat of arms in the middle.

The CoA is indeed a historical one (as the Statutes claim), since [ern03] agrees and show a picture of it from a source from 1920's, I believe. Unfortunately, no further details on the origin of this CoA is given.
