Overview

Cetingrad is a community in the Karlovac County. About 4,700 inhabitants, but only about 900 in old town of the same name. It is situated about 50 km south of Karlovac near the NW border of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Velika Kladuša). The place has important historic meaning as you shall see from the Coat of Arms charges. The coat of arms of Cetingrad is azure a charter argent with five seals gules pendant from it on strings proper. The flag is light blue with the coat of arms bordered yellow in the middle.
The diploma is a symbolic depiction of the charter signed on the New Year 1527 on the Assembly of Cetingrad (Cetingradski Sabor) when the Croatian nobility elected Archduke Ferdinand Habsburg for the king of Croatia. The charter sealed with the seals of the highest Croatian nobility and the Great Seal of the Kingdom (with chequy shield) is among the most important documents of the Croatian statehood and is preserved in the state archives in Vienna.
