The company was founded in 1920 by L. Gouriou and J. Jousset. In 1920, they bought four trawler-patrol boats from the French Navy, SS Ibérique, Gaêlique, Corinthique and Celtique. The company had diverse activities, mostly fishing and coastal shipping lines.
In 1925, the company set up an alliance with the Corsican shipowners Maestracci and Carlini. Maestracci brought SS La-Corse, suitable for a scheduled line with Corsica. The ship and the company were sold off in 1929, but Carlini maintained the line with another ship also named La-Corse.
