According to AFP (Agence France Presse), dispatch dated 22/09/00 18h34, the Regional Council of Ile-de-France changed its logo and flag.
The former red-white-blue flower, which had been created in 1976, has been abandoned, because it was only a geographical symbol of the departements, and not a symbol of a Region whose main aim is preparing the future. The new logo is a blue whirling spiral with an eight-pointed star, standing for the eight departments of the Region and Europe.
Olivier Touzeau, 26 September 2000
I have seen the flag of the Regional Council of Ile-de-France hoisted over the Lycée (High School) Fénelon in Paris. Although there was no wind, the star made the identification of the flag unambiguous. However, the field of the flag was blue and the letters white, making the flag much more visible than in its official version.
