Presentation of the city

The word péage means "toll" and may be explained by the location of the city on the river Isère, just in front of the city of Romans-sur-Isère, whose main activity was/is shoe production. There was probably here a bridge with an octroi, or a border between states or provinces.

Description of the flag

The flag of Bourg-de-Péage is vertically divided yellow-blue (1:2) with the municipal coat of arms placed in the yellow stripe.

Olivier Touzeau, 24 September 2000

The two gloves in the chief of the blazon may refer to the leather industry, which was/is one of the main activities of the city (seriously impaired by the economical crisis).
