Flag adopted 20 Feb 1997, coat-of-arms adopted 4 Sep 1997
Flag adopted 20.02.1997, according to Dirk Schönberger's Administrative
Divisions of the World website. From Ralf Hartemink's International
Civic Arms website:
The arms were granted on September 04, 1997. The horse symbolises the
famous horse breeding station Redefin, as well as horse-breeding in general.
The horse was also part of the arms of several 13th century Counts of Schwerin.
The wavy division line symbolises the Elbe river.
The oak leaves symbolise the former districts.
The colours are derived from the colours of the former County Schwerin
(red and gold) and the County Dannenberg (red, silver and green).
Literature: Ludwigslust official
website.
