At the city
website the arms are shown, together with the old arms of Garmisch
and of Partenkirchen and a short summary of the history of the town.

Having just spent several days in beautiful Garmisch-Partenkirchen,
I saw the flag hanging on a building in the town, a vertically displayed
triband, RWR, with the city CoA near the top. The CoA is argent an eagle
displayed sable dimidiating gules a fess argent. Ralf Hartemink's International
Civic Heraldry site says these are the former arms of the county (Kreis)
of Werdenfels, which became the arms of the combined city when Garmisch
and Partenkirchen were merged. The CoA on the flag I saw also had black
"diapering" (a purely decorative pattern applied to the field of
a heraldic device) on the red areas of the CoA.
