Description

Red over white, with the arms superimposed.

Dieter Linder, 18 November 1998

Red-white banner [hanging flag] with the arms. Sources: flag from Staack 1997, arms from Stadler 1964-1971.

Stefan Schwoon, 7 March 2001

From Ralf Hartemink's International Civic Arms website:

The arms show the crossed keys of St.Peter, the patron saint of the city. When the keys were first used on the arms of the city is not clear; they are known since around 1300 as arms of the Counts of Regensburg and since 1320 as a symbol of the city. (...)

Literature: Stadler 1964-1971.
