The proposed COA and flag of the Hradec Kralove Region (= "Kralovehradecky kraj" in Czech) are available at this page.
The author of the proposals is Hradec Kralove citizen and our colleague Petr Exner. Note that "kralova" (less archaically "kralovna") means "queen" in Czech (in fact, HK was one of the Queen's towns), which substantiates the golden crown. The yellow spiral is a stylized "G" (from German "Grätz" = "Hradec") that is the oldest part of the regional capital's COA (now silver Bohemian lion holding the golden G, on the red shield). The symbols have been authorized by the regional council and removed to the regional assembly (June 1, 2001).

The Kralovehradecky region (kralovehradecky is adjektivum from Hradec Kralove) approved regional symbols 12.6.2001. The Czech Parliament will approve this symbols autumn. The picture is on CVP too. The regional flag is heraldic.

Hradec Kralove Region ("Kralovehradecky kraj") - the proposal made by Petr Exner (two Bohemian lions, golden G, and golden crown) has been approved by the regional assembly.
Jan Zrzavy, 18 Jun 2001

The parliamentary heraldic and vexillological subcommittee approved the proposals from Liberec and Hradec Kralove Regions. See Petr Exner's "Czech Vexillological Pages" for images.
Jan Zrzavy, 25 Sep 2001

Two new flags of Czech regions were officially granted by the chairman of the House of Representatives (decree No. 92, October 8, 2001): those of the Liberec Region and the Hradec Kralove Region. Both are identical to the proposals included in "Czech Vexillological Pages" and FOTW. (Note that Bohemian lions should be identical to those used in the Czech COA.)
Jan Zrzavy, 2 Nov 2001

The "G" shape (Kralovehradecky kraj) is derived from stone carving on organ-loft in Holy Spirit Cathedral in Hradec Králové. It is a most interesting Gothic building of bricks.
