Description of the flag

Zonnebeke (12,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Ieper. The horrible battle of Pasendale took place in 1917 on the territory of the municipality of Zonnebeke.

The flag is: Gules, inescutcheon Sable, the letters "BK" Or, topped with a mitre Argent and a crosier of the same, surrounded by twenty-eight sun-rays Or, half of them wavy and half of them straight. Proportions are 2:3. This flag is a banner of the municipal arms. The arms are canting since zon means sun.

The flag was adopted on 5 October 1988.
