Waarschoot (8,000 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Ghent.
The flag of Waarschoot is horizontally divided yellow-green-white-black.
The municipal council approved on 27 May 1982 the designs of the coat of arms and flag. On 3 June 1985, this municipal resolution was confirmed by the the Flemish Minister of Culture, Karel Poma.
Black and yellow are the colors of the County of Flanders, green and white, those of Meetjesland.
