Presentation of Linter

The municipality of Linter (6,961 inhabitants on 1 July 2004; 36.37 sq. km) is made since 1977 of the former municipalities of Linter (made of Drieslinter and Neerlinter since 1971), Orsmaal (made of Melkwezer, Neerhespen, Orsmaal-Gussenhoven and Overhespen since 1970) and Wommersom.

Municipal flag of Linter

The municipal flag of Linter is quartered, first and fourth, a white field with a red lion with a yellow crown, second and third, a blue field with a white armour greave.
According to Gemeentewapens in België - Vlaanderen en Brussel, the flag was adopted by the Municipal Council on 26 February 1990 and 29 0ctober 1990, confirmed by the Executive of Flanders on 18 December 1990 and published in the Belgian official gazette on 25 September 1991. It is a banner of the municipal arms.
