Boom is located in the arrondissement of Antwerp.
Boom means "tree", so the coat of arms is canting; The lady under the tree is Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe met kind Jezus - the Virgin with the baby Jesus.
The flag was adopted by Municipal decision of 3 September 1987, and Ministerial decision of 17 November 1987.
