Heraldic/vexillological work: not many publications (several
short notes and the chapter
“Vexillologie” in the
Herold-Handbuch der Genealogie, 1972); his main work (unpublished)

consists of the collection of data on modern vexillology (states,
subnational entities, municipalities), especially containing copies
of laws and regulations. This collection (Sammlung Fachinger)
is now located in the Deutsches Schiffahrtsmuseum at Bremerhaven; it
is probably the largest vexillological collection in public property
in Germany.
