The University Flag
Designed in 1958 and displayed for the first time at the inaugural
convocation of President Clark Kerr on September 26, 1958, the University flag
was designed by Willard V. Rosenquist and Winfield S. Wellington. A gold
streamer with an open book and a large "C" in gold are displayed upon a blue
field with a gold border. The Latin University motto (Fiat Lux) is
displayed upon the book, above which is an arc of nine gold stars representing
the nine campuses of the University.
It is reproduced in
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/graphicresources/images/flag.gif as a
very small, b/w graphic (thru
http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/graphicresources/sealvariations.php);
the detail can be seen from the Presidential Medal (http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/graphicresources/images/presmedal.gif).
According to UC guidelines (http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/graphicresources/elements.php#seal)
the blue ("black" part) in this flag is PMS#286 C100 M83 Y16 K5; the gold
("white") is PMS#130 C5 M35 Y100 K0.
