I recanvased the squarish original into a more usual 2:3, though this may be wrong. This flag, though sober in colors (black line drawing on red), shows a detailed landscape with a water tower, the City Hall (?) and a quite modern looking bus.

CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED ORDINANCE NO. 90-145
BY: MAYOR ED BOYLE

AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE OFFICIAL FLAG OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted desires to have its own, official flag; and

WHEREAS, the City has determined, as recommended by judges Marie Case, Linda Schuler and Thomas Ciha, that the drawing of the flag submitted by Sarah McIntyre, 6003 Burns Road, North Olmsted, is the flag most suited for the official flag of the city of North Olmsted; and

WHEREAS, the City now wishes to memorialize its decision to adopt the flag as offered by Sarah McIntyre.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:

SECTION 1: That the City of North Olmsted does hereby officially declare that there will be an official flag for the City of North Olmsted.

SECTION 2: That the drawing of the flag as submitted by Sarah McIntyre shall be declared to be the official flag of the City of North Olmsted.

SECTION 3: That the drawing of the flag as submitted aforesaid shall be used to design and make the official flag of the City, which flag shall fly and be displayed on holidays and at official functions of the City of North Olmsted.

SECTION 4: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further provided that it received the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.

PASSED: OCTOBER 16, 1990

located by Dov Gutterman, 30 May 2002

The flag drawn by Sarah McIntyre seems to be in part inspired by the city seal (see http://www.ci.north-olmsted.oh.us/seals.htm) which shows a similar, but
earlier scene, with David Johnson Stearns' first cabin and the village's first school, an oxcart library, and the town hall (same building as on the flag?) on an
outline of the shape of the city.

North Olmsted is in Cuyahoga County, southwest of Cleveland, Ohio. It has a population of about 34,000.
