A blue flag with a central device comprising a ring of yellow disk overlain by an irregular red shape, and a broad blue wavy line across it.

On the city website there's a logo image, like that on the flag, with a tool-tip saying "The City of Grand Rapids' logo was designed by Joseph Kinnebrew, an internationally recognized sculptor and painter. The logo incorporates a yellow sun, blue river, and a red representation of the La Grande Vitesse sculpture by Alexander Calder. The logo is used on everything from street signs to refuse trucks. This logo (c) Copyright 2002 City of Grand Rapids."
