The flag of Talbot County was adopted on December 31, 1963 by the county commissioners. The color of purple is a traditional one used for Talbot County, one of the original county colors assigned to the then ten existing counties.
The arms are those of William Talbot, father of Sir Robert Talbot. The county is thought to be named after Lady Grace Talbot (wife of Robert Talbot).
The flag was developed by the Historical Society of Talbot County and the women of the St. Michaels Women’s Club made the first two flags.
