Description of the flag

The official flag of DC United, is black with three narrow white stripes, as on the home uniform, with a large club logo overall. The logo is a red shield with a black bald eagle (white head), on its chest a pinkish-orange star bearing a soccer ball.

Championship flag

D.C. United has won five championships in its short history: 3 MLS titles, a U.S. Open Cup, and a CONCACAF Cup. The flags earned are the same as the club flag with the size of the shield reduced and the words "1996 MLS Champions," etc., in white copperplate gothic lettering.

Variant flag

A number of flags like the team flag can be seen, but without the white stripes, mostly being displayed by fans but also as part of the MLS LOB display. I take it this is a variant, since the flag in the national/district/club display had the stripes, as did a large version in the official fan club section. I have also seen a fan flag with a white field and red stripes and the logo. The stripes on these flags did not reach the hoist and fly edges.
