The Gonfalon

From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"It was confirmed in December, 15th, 2000 by the decision of XXI city council session of XXIII convocation. Square panel, along staff goes blue vertical strip in 1/3 of gonfalon width. On it is yellow pary cross, above and under it are yellow eight-beam stars. On yellow free edge is crimson letter "К"."

"It was confirmed in December, 15th, 2000 by the decision of XXI city council session of XXIII convocation. Quaterly and per bend. Azure, or paty cross; or, gules eight-beam star; or, gules eight-beam star; gules, or letter "К". The shield enframed by or cartouche and crowned by argent urban crown with three prongs. The author is A.Grechylo.
Letter "К" was on city stamps in XVIII century. Cross means belonging to Poltava cossack regiment. Stars mean constancy.

The City

"The first mention refers to 1647. The origin of the name comes from the river Kobeliachka onwhich the town is situated. Since 1654 it was a squadron town of Poltava regiment."
