The Town

From the site of Ukrainian Heraldry:
"L'viv researcher P.Siredzhuk in 1981 in one of articles wrote, that the small town Nowe Selo (New Village) was renamed in Burshtyn in 1628. According to a legend, the settlement has received the name by influence of handicraftsmen and dealers which was engaged basically in manufacturing of products from amber ("byrshtyn") and their sale. However, in archives there are data that in 1635 the name of city burgomaster was Ivan Burshtyn. Modern city known by thermal power station."
