The merchant ensign of El Salvador is the tricolor with DIOS
UNION LIBERTAD (God Unity Liberty) written in yellow in the white
field. The flag was adopted in 1912.

In the National Geograpic Magazine 1917 Flag Number there is:
507 - Salvador merchant (4:7~) - Blue-white-blue triband with a
circular inscription "DIOS.UNION Y LIBERTAD". The
inscription is shown black there, but I presume that it might
have well been silver, so I show it such. The inscrioption starts
at 9 o'clock.

Looking in Flaggenbuch 1939 [neu92]
it seems that Salvadorean flag has not changed much since.
Merchant Ensign (2:3~) -"Handelsflagge, Flagge der
inländischen Behörden, Private dürfen an Land die Inschrift im
weißen Streifen nur mit besonderer Genehmigunu führen."
The blue-white-blue triban with silver (gray) inscription DIOS -
UNION - LIBERTAD. Notable, there are the dashes between the words
of the motto.

Translated from German: Merchant ensign, Flag of the inland
authorities. The flag with the inscription on the white stripe
may be used on land only with special permission.

The Album 1990 Recapitulative edition of 1995 showes Pilot
Ensign - Blue-white-blue triband with red inscription PRACTICO in
the white stripe. Similar flag (with only minor differences in
the typesetting) is shown in the Falggenbuch. The flag might have
already been abandoned at the time of issue (I mean of the issue
of the Album 1995). It is, presumably, not included in Album 2000
as no comfirmation of it use was found.

Vessel Ensign (2:3~) - As in Album 1995, somewhat different fonts
- though the difference may not be of importance.

divided blue-white-blue with the coat of arms in the center of
the white part.
