The flag and arms of Prevalje are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu, zastavi in prazniku Občine Prevalje, adopted on 7 May 2001 and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 43/2001.

The flag is rectangular, in ratio 100:241 (sic), blue with the crown from the coat of arms stylized and placed near the hoist.

The colours are officially specified as: Blue, RAL 5023; White, RAL 9002; and Gold, RAL 1024.

The coat of arms of Prevalje is:
Azure three crowns or palewise and between the chief two a barrulet wavy argent.

The coat of arms refers to he legend of the warden's three daughters who drowned in a lake. Once there was a lake where Prevalje is today. On Temeljnov vrh, the nearby hill, there was living a rich warden of the castle who had three beautiful daughters named Marija, Barbara and Rozalija. The three were visiting a warden of a nearby castle in the north of the lake and returning from there by a boat. A might wind rose and the three drowned. The warden searched them, to no avail, and finally proclaimed that he shall rise temples where he would find the bodies of his daugthers. A huge otter appeared and moved a large rock from the Guštanj gorge so the water could run away from the lake. When the lake dried up the bodies were found. Where the warden found his daugther Marija he built a church of Virgin Mary today named Devica Marija na jezeru (Virgin Mary of the Lake). Where he found Barbara, he built the church of St. Barbara and where he found Rozalija he built a cave where Rozalija's body rests.
