Municipal flag of Cerkvenjak

The flag and coat of arms of the local assembly (subdivision of a municipality) of Cerkvenjak are mentioned in the assembly statutes Statut Krajevne skupnosti Cerkvenjak (Lenart), adopted on 26 April 1996, and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 56/1996, and are prescribed by Decision Sklep o grbu in zastavi Krajevne skupnosti Cerkvenjak, adopted on 6 February 1998, and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 22/1998, 20 March 1998.

The text in the official gazette does not include description and image, but the same design was most probably later (re)adopted for the newly formed municipality.

The flag and coat of arms of the municipality of Cerkvenjak are mentioned in the assembly statutes Statut Občine Cerkvenjak, adopted on 18 March 1999, and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 26/1999, and are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Občine Cerkvenjak, adopted on 16 June 1999, and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 67/1999.

The flag is rectangular, in proportion 2:3, light blue with the coat of arms in the middle. It shall always be hoisted vertically.

Stanič [stj05] gives the colour specifications as:

  • Red: N 8816
  • Blue: N 9950
  • Grapes: N 8825
  • Brown: N 8028

The coat of arms is divided diagonally; its lower part is light blue with the St. Anthony's Church and surrounding buildings, whereas its upper part is green with an apple and a grape. Above the shield is a red rectangular panel inscribed with the name of the place. The name of the municipality alludes to a verger and therefore the inclusion of the church in the coat of arms is a kind of canting.
