The municipality of Črenšovci was formed in 1995. The municipality of
Velika Polana was separated from Črenšovci
in 1998.
The name of the municipality is connected with the word for "cherry"
which would be reflected in the symbols. The municipality is situated
in Prekmurje, the northeastern part of Slovenia, "over the Mura river".

The coat of arms and the flag of Črenšovci are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu in zastavi Občine Črenšovci, adopted on 28 January 1997, and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, 8/1977, 14 February 1997, with effect on 29 February 1997 (15 days after publication). The Decision includes very detailed images of the coat of arms, the horizontal and the vertical flags.
The flag is rectangular, in proportion 2:5, horizontally divided white-green, with the municipal coat of arms in the middle. The size of the coat of arms is 61% x 76% of the flag height.
The flag for vertical hoisting is also prescribed, being the same
flag with the white stripe to the left of the observer, and with the
coat of arms rotated so it still stands upright.
By the same Decision it is prescribed that a table flag can be made
(with the permission of the Mayor) and that it should be the vertical
version of the flag.
The colours are determined by SCC system, this being the 1994 catalogue of colours of Cinkarna Celje:

Coat of arms of Črenšovci - Image by Željko Heimer, 28 September 1999
The coat of arms is a semi-circular shield argent. On dexter there is a stylized green jelša leaf, symbolizing Polanski log. In the leaf there is a yellow stylized wheat head, symbolizing the fertility of Prekmurje region. In sinister part there is the symbol of the river Mura - three wavy lines, from which is rising a black mill-wheel, characteristic of the regions along the Mura. Above the wheel there are three stylized cherry fruits (three pellets - roundels sable) coloured black. The shield is bordered black. This is more or less the description from the Decision.
