Browsing through Pedersen 1979, I noticed a strange ensign for the Solomon Islands a green ensign. There is a black and white picture with colour hatchings. The flag has the Solomon Islands flag in the canton of a green field that also has a narrow yellow cross throughout. Pedersen 1979 noted that the exact use of these ensigns were not known. I have not seen this green ensign in any other flag books. Does this mean it did never exist or what?

This might be some kind of customs service or border guard ensign. This is of course only a speculation.

Barraclough and Crampton 1981 states in p. 242, "there is also a Green Ensign whose use has not yet been determined".
