Coat of arms:

On yellow shield a purpur tree — symbol of the Chuvash rebirth. Yellow oak branch and blue ribbon with "We was, we are, we will". This design was recommendated by government.

This was the one indeed aproved, but with some modifications. The three-suns-oak motive was used well before 1992: I saw it as the logo of a (chuvashian) governmental publishing house, still during soviet time.
