Presentation

Interlingua, said of IALA (International Auxiliary Language Association) to distinguish it from Interlingue, achieved remarkable success and acceptance — even if modest compared with those of Esperanto. It is the most refined application of the “cosmopolitan” approach for an aprioristic constructed language, based on the previous language knowledge of the user and focusing primarily on passive usage, contrasting with esperanto’s “internationalism” and “democracy”.

Rodríguez [rod97] says (and I can confirm it) that, although Interlingua apeared in 1951, no logo was officially adopted yet. Above are simply two of the 14 proposals published in 1991, during the language’s 40th anniversary. I used the colors and arrangement of the European flag, whose philosophy is kin to the “cosmopolitan” ideas of the adepts of this language.
