Presentation

The Portuguese Football Federation is, as its name implies, the entity that has the responsability to arganize portuguese football and represent it abroad through the national selection. This, despite the fact that who organizes the professional competitions (the two top divisions) is the League of Professional Football, in cooperation with the Portuguese Football Federation.

About the flag

The Portuguese Football Federation flies a white flag with its symbol centered. I suppose this symbol is already fairly known these days: a Cross of Christ with a shield based on the portuguese lesser coat of arms superimposed. This fancy shield has a red bordure without the castles but with the inicials "FPF" in the upper part, in gold. The inner shield is white and contains the five “quinas” just like the national arms. All the red elements are contained within golden fimbriations.

Without black lining

The most common flags show still thick black lines delimitating the golden fimbriations, just as the players show in their sweaters, but is also seen frequently a variation without these lines, with the gold in direct contact with the white cloth.
