The flag is blue and the coat of arms is remarkably unusual: the
shield is samnitic, so-called french style,
and instead of a scroll its surrounded by a golden
garland. The charges of the coat of arms are: azure fimbriated argent, a
castle argent litten gueles, with two ravens sable perched passant in the side
towers, between a crescent pointing downwards over a sun, dexter and, sinister,
the inverse composition, all over something (yoke?) argent with two roundels
sable.

Plain (monocolored) portuguese subnational flags are
not allowed to have armless
variations: plain flags always carry the coat of arms.
