It is a quite typical portuguese municipal flag, with the coat of arms
centered on a background gyronny (city rank)
of yellow and purple. The coat of arms is argent, a tree (what kind?)
proper between two grapes, fruited purple; chief azure, a ring or between
two fleurs-de-lis of the same. Mural crown argent with five visible towers
(city rank) and white scroll reading in black
upper case letters "CIDADE DE CANTANHEDE".

The ring has a puple gemstone on it, turned upwards.
