Alcanena is a municipality belonging to the district
of Santarém (old province of Ribatejo), with an
area of 127.3 sq. km. and 14 373 inhabitants (data from local authorities
14 560 as of 2000, census data). It is divided in 10 freguesias
(communes). The main economic activities are transforming industries and
commerce.
Jorge Candeias, 15 Sep 1997
There’s also the minderico speaker’s community, in a town
called Minde. But that’s not a language, but an artificial lingo invented a
few centuries ago by locals in order to be able to communicate between
themselves without being understood by strangers. It’s pure portuguese,
only the words get twisted meanings.
Jorge Candeias, 04 Feb 2003
I think the correct term for such a “language” is "jargon"
(in portuguese "geringonça").
