Rural Municipality (Gmina) of Chojnice:
The flag is divided into three equal horizontal stripes in the colors
green- yellow-blue.
Quotation: "The three colors <of the CoA> in
a form of horizontal equally wide stripes were used in the flag of the
commune of Chojnice. From top to bottom: green - gold - blue. Since the
Middle Ages several provinces and cities have used their flags. A flag
which did not directly represent concrete persons, but the territory, unites
all inhabitants in a special way with local values; one identifies with
the values and the territory. When used vertically it should be used as
the national flag, from left to right: green - gold - blue."

A curious web site, offering information in Polish, German, and *Croatian*.
Any clue why those choices?
Al Kirsch, 20 Jun 2002
No idea. I checked several encyclopedias and lexicons, but I don't find
anything about Chojnice. I was hopeing that possibly small Croatian community
might be living there, but if so, I guess some Croatian encyclopedias would
mention it... So, I guess, the webmaster speaks Croatian so he decided
to show that :-)

I think Zeljko's guess is right. In addition, Chojnice are establishing
close ties to the Croatian city of Beli Manastir (Osjecko-Baranjska Zupanija)
including cultural and scholarly exchanges so far and negotiating an agreement
between mayors of both cities regarding their participation in the Sister
Cities program.

I have regiffed Gunnar Staack's image, using the colors of the website:
darkgreen - yellow - blue.
