Tarnow: banner, proportions 3:2 blue with the coat of arms in yellow color in the middle and the name "TARNOW" in white at the top of the banner.
Pascal Vagnat, 19 May 1999

Tarnow is a city of one hundred and thirty thousand inhabitants. It is situated at the intersection of major transit roads from Cracow in the west to Przemysl and border crossing at Medyka to the east as well as from Warsaw and Kielce to the north to Nowy Sacz and border crossings at Piwniczna, Lysa on the Dunajec, Lysa Polana to the south. In the period of time between the two World Wars (1918-1939) one of the most significant factors building the city was the construction of a huge chemical factory. Today this western part of Tarnow is known as Moscice from the name of its founder - Ignacy Moscicki who later on was also the President of Polish Republic. Tarnów was founded c. 1330 and was an important commercial center.
