Rozenburg municipality

Population (1 Jan 2003): 13.240; area: 6,37 km². Settlements: Rozenburg (seat).
The present municipal flag was adopted 23 Feb 1984 by municipal resolution.
Description: five vertical equally wide stripes of yellow and red, with on the first red stripe two 8-leaved white roses, one above the other; and on the second red stripe an opened white burgh, of which the heights are respectively 3/10, and 4/10 of flagheight; the roses with red hearts.
The flag, which was derived from the municipal arms, was adopted because the former municipal flag was dated in 1938. On 6 Sep 1938 a parade was held in Amsterdam on the occasion of the 40 years reigning jubilee of Queen Wilhelmina. All Zuid-Holland municipalities, which did not have their own flag, were oresented with a flag consisting of two equally horizontal stripes of red and yellow. Each municipality was required to put its CoA on the flag. Rozenburg never did that.

Granted 24 Jul 1816. The name of Rozenburg can be "read" in the CoA: the roses and the burgh. The colors red and yellow are derived from the arms of the counts of Holland.
