Population (1 Jan 2003): 20.169; area: 147,48 km². Settlements: Tubbergen (seat), Albergen, Fleringen, Geesteren, Haarle, Harbrinkhoek, Hezingen, Langeveen, Mander, Manderveen, Mariaparochie (part), Reutum, Vasse.
Flag adopted 25 Nov 1963 by municipal resolution; description: blue with three "golden" mountains, placed 2 and 1. The "mountains" are, according to some well-known scientists, "essen" - mounds built by man. Several ancient mounds have been discovered, among which the mound, in which the "Man van Mander", dated c. 1500 BC. A famous descendant is Mans oet Twente and possbly Ilse de Lange.

Tubbergen CoA

Granted 28 Oct 1898; crown added 15 Jan 1971.

The CoA granted in 1898 consists partly of three mountains (after the word "Tub-bergen") and partly of the arms of the city of Ootmarsum. In 1971 the municipal arms were provided with a crown.
Description: I. in azure a golden cross, charged with a shortened and narrowed blue cross, with in each quarter a lion of gold.
II. Black with three golden mountains.
The shield is covered with a golden crown of three leaves and two pearls.
