Andijk in Noord-Holland has 6.417 inhabitants on 47,70 km². It is a municipality in the northeastern part of the province, Westfriesland. It was originally a fishing village, abbreviation AD used on the vessels. In 1811 it became an independent municipality, which received its CoA in 1816: a dikewatch on horse, carrying a flag with a blue field on which the letters AD (see http://www.ngw.nl/a/andyk.htm . This was after the flooding catastrophe of 1916, when Andijk escaped the main misery, probably because of the watchfullness of the Andoiker Hans Brinkers.
It gained national importance in 1926/27 when a pilot polder was created in Andijk, as a preparation of the Zuiderzee-polders project. Since that time it became an agricultural region.
Flag adopted by municipal resolution on 5 April 1976.

Historical flag (unofficial)

I've made a gif of the old village flag (or dikewatch-flag) based on Ralf Hartemink's CoA, a flag used unofficially before the adoption of the present one.
