The colors of this flag are derived from the municipal arms. The three
stripes can be seen as representation of St. Anne te Drieën;
both wavy stripes symbolize the rivers Maas and Oude Maas; the straight
line is for the Julianakanaal.

Arms: azure St. Anne or.
The two children, held by the saint, are not mentioned in the official
blazoning. In Laak was a chapel devoted to St. Anne. Anne was according
to the Apocryphal Bibelbook Proto-Evangelium of St.James the mother of
the Virgin Mary. As St. Anne te Drieën (the Threesome?) she
is represented with Mary and the child Jesus.
